  • [SOLVED] Nucleo 32 STM32G431 with st-link v3 on board without a JTAG/SWD connector

    Hi,

There is a thread related to the subject with the following statement at the end:

A ST-LinkV3 conversion tool is currently not planned as according to ST all V3 boards should have an external debug header so an external J-Link can be used for debugging.

I recently bought a Nucleo 32 board with STM32G431 and st-link v3 on board. Unfortunately, there is no JTAG/SWD connector on this board. I guess, I can remove R14 and R15 to get access to SWD pins of the MCU, but it would be more elegant to use built-in st-link as J-link with firmware from SEGGER. So I wonder, is there any change in the policy quoted above?

    Thanks,
    Misha
  • No change of plans so far.
This would be an invest-only for SEGGER with no return on value.
SEGGER would need to put significant resources into the FW development and would only get even more work with support cases from people using the FW. As there is no license cost and no compensation / commitment from ST on such a project, it is simply not worth it (at least right now).

  • Alex,

I agree. With no funding from ST or licensing fees it would be difficult to justify commercial side of this project. So I have already turned on my soldering iron. It should not take much time to add a connector. ;)

    Thanks for quick reply.
