Replied to the thread Subsequent Connections to RP2040 Fail.

    Post
We also stumbled across this. It is currently under investigation. We will update this thread, once it is solved. It seems to have something to do with SWD multi-drop. Maybe a misbehavior inside the J-Link firmware... Keep you posted
  • Whatever log file you sent here, it is not the one from the failing session. There is no device selected, no application download, ... visible in the log file. There is just a connect to J-Link (not to the target MCU) and start of RTT in the log file you…
  • Hi, Your first screenshot shows that the virtual COM port and the MSD (drag & drop programming) part of the OB was enumerated successfully. However, there is a 3rd component in the USB descriptor that is the J-Link itself. You should see this as…

Replied to the thread Has the J-Link Plus an internal series resistor on the RESET pin?.

    Post
Hi, the reset pin of J-Link is open drain. J-Link only drives it LOW in case it is activated. To generate a HIGH level, it releases the pin and let a pull-up do the work. So this is short-circuit proof. BR Alex

If everything until halting the CPU works fine, the J-Link HW is okay. As it was working before with your HW and then stopped working, it sounds like an application change that caused this. Is it possible that the same code runs on both boards? Reg.…

Strange... Can you provide the project? We would like to reproduce and check this. I think we have the same board in house. Otherwise, we would order it.

Replied to the thread JLINK connection error.

    Post
Hi, There is some code running on the device that prevents J-Link from halting the CPU. low power modes are a possible culprit. The error message you are seeing comes from the connect phase where J-Link temporarily halts the CPU to read out some CP15…

Feature-wise both J-Links should be detected identically by IAR. Is it possible that you enabled trace in your project options or in one of the windows in IAR you have open? Sounds like IAR is trying to make use of trace in your project.

What you have sent is not the output of GDB but GDBServer. GDB: GNU debugger. 3rd party command line debugger. GDB remote protocol: Generic protocol used by GDB to communicate with a GDBServer. GDBServer: Translates from GBD remote protocol to vendor…

Replied to the thread JTRST or NRST ?.

    Post
TRST: Test reset signal to reset the TAP controller and/or debug logic. J-Link does not really use this signal. nRESET / NRST: Reset pin of MCU. May be used on STM32 MCUs to do a connect under reset. TRST is not a replacement for NRST.

Just to make sure that we are on the same page: It was NOT a bug so there was no fix for it. It was an inconvenience (for very few customers) but a known design decision. If you have a headless system, you still won’t see any dialog boxes. However,…

I learned today that QSPI support was not added yet but I discussed with my colleague that he will work on it this week. If everything works flawlessly, it should be available in a beta version by the end of the week. BR Alex

Hi, While I understand your point, I hope that you understand ours as well: We can only list as supported what we can maintain in-house. This means we need to have permanent access to a HW that supports it. I will check with the RISC-V vendors we…
