  • [ABANDONED] Jlink edu mini - initTarget(): code returned with error code -1

    Hello,

I am unable to get started with Jlink EDU mini. I am connecting FRDM K64F with Jlink edu mini. I have updated to the latest firmware using Jlink config tool.

    I get the following error:
InitTarget(): PCode returned with error code -1

The output on the ozone console is attached.

    Thank you

  • Hi
    Thank you for your inquiry.

Please note that it is not required to manually update the J-Link Firmware version.
If an update is required, a prompt asking you to update the FW will pop up automatically when connecting to the J-Link via our software.

We are not able to reproduce this issue here (FRDM K64F + J-Link EDU mini).

Could you please install the latest Software and Documentation Pack,
follow the troubleshooting article on the page linked below and send us a screenshot
of the entire J-Link Commander output + answer the questions at the end of the article?

  • Hi,

Thank you for the response. I am using MacOS.

    1. The green LED on J-Link is lit
    2. I can see the J-Link connected on list of USB devices

Please find the attached screenshots. I tried with speed of 100kHz and also 4000kHz.

    Thank you

  • Hi,
As already mentioned, we are not able to reproduce this issue.

Could you please tell us the revision of the NXP board you are using?
Is there any application running on the board?
If yes, could you provide us with the source/.hexfile for this application?

    Best regards,
    Fabian

  • Hi,
Sorry for the delay in response.

All required software is part of the J-Link Software and Development Pack.
You do not have to download anything else.

I tried this again with the sample you attached.
Everything is working as expected on Windows, Linux and Mac.

Could you please try out another ribbon cable?
Does the J-Link work with another board/device?
Does it work on another host PC?

    Best regards,
    Fabian
