  • [SOLVED] Embedded Studio crashes on VMware VM

    I am using Embedded Studio 3.26a on a VMware virtual machine running Ubuntu 16.04. The host computer runs Windows 7-64 bit and VMware Player 12.

    When my J-Link is connected to the VM via USB, Embedded Studio crashes during start-up.

    When the J-Link is not USB-connected to the VM, Embedded Studio uses it via LAN (it's a Pro), and that works fine, but it doesn't use my license this way.

    I understand why the J-Link does not expose its licenses to LAN clients, but how can I use a USB J-Link with a VM?

    Such a behaviour is not known to us.
    I tried to reproduce the issue you were seeing, but Embedded Studio was starting just fine in the Ubuntu VM while my J-Link PRO was connected to it via USB.

    Have you installed the J-Link Software Package in your Linux VM? segger.com/downloads/jlink/

    Are you using some kind of USB-Hub? Does the issue resolve when you connect directly to your PC without any hub in between?
