  • [SOLVED] J-Link Pro not recognized by J-Link Configurator

    Hi,

I updated the firmware of my J-Link Pro using the latest release (JLink_V502g) and after update the device is no longer recognized by the any of the Segger software. I was using JLink_V494j before and had some troubles debugging my STM32F103ZE MCU and thought that upgrading the firmware of the debugger might help. I have a second unit which is still using the old firmware, but I dare not update that since that's the last unit we have and bricking that will put us in a tight spot.

    With kind regards
    Teo
  • Hi Teo,

Could you try to connect the "faulty" J-Link unit via USB and describe the output of the status LED (the middle one) ?
If the status LED is solid green, could you open J-Link Commander (jlink.exe) and post the output here?

    Best regards,
    Niklas

  • When opening JLink.exe it asked me to "update" the firmware again. After doing this it seems the configurator sees the unit agains seems like this fixed the issue. Is this method a good method to solve firmware update issues in the Jlink-Pro? Should I try updating the firmware again?

  • Hi Theo,

it seems that the previous firmware update was unsuccessful.
The J-Link than boots from its read-only boot loader ("BTL") and needs to be updated with a firmware before it can be used again.
Since you have done this, your J-Link PRO is ready for use again.

Could you please install the latest J-Link software & documentation pack and use the included J-Link Commander (jlink.exe) to upgrade the firmware of the J-Link PRO?

    Best regards,
    Niklas
