I have a J-Link for ARM which I've used on boards with 20-pin JTAG headers. However, my current board has a 10-pin JTAG header.

Thinking that the 10-pin header was fairly standard, I've tried an adapter (MDL-ADA2) made for this conversion:
    estore.ti.com/MDL-ADA2-10-pin-…Adapter-Module-P1913.aspx

However, when I attempt to connect to the target with:
    JLinkExe -device MCIMX6D5
it reports that it did not find a device on the JTAG chain. The target does seem to reset though when I start JLinkExe

Can you tell me if the adapter should be compatible with Segger J-Link. Or if not, can Segger recommend wiring that would be compatible between J-Link's 20 pin header and a standard 10-pin JTAG header?

    Thanks,
    Steve
  • Hi Steve,

I do not have the pinouts of the adapter provided by TI but if it is compatible to the J-Link 9-pin Cortex adapter:
    segger.com/jlink-adapters.html#CM_9pin

    it should work.
The 9-pin adapter provided by SEGGER is guaranteed to be compatible. It is compatible to the 9-pin connector defined by ARM:
    infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/…rtex_debug_connectors.pdf

    PS:
Maybe there is something running on your target which inhibits debugger connection by re-configuring the debug pins to GPIO functionality?
This may also be the reason for not being able to connect.

    Best regards
    Alex
