  • [SOLVED]Emulator not found after fimrware update failed on J-Link OB SAM3

    Hello and good morning
i'm using an embedded J-Link OB SAM3 on my Nordic Seminconductor nRF51822-EK development board. After the try to update the firmware on the emulator with the firmware 4.80 the device is not detected by any Segger tool anymore. The firmware was successfully uploaded to the device but after the reset it is not detectable by any of your tools. I attached a screenshot of the J-Link Configurator, the J-Link Commander and the Windows device manager.
I've tried the device with another PC and different OS like Windows and MacOS and in addition with multiple versions of the Segger tools but with no success.

    What could i do?

    Thanks for your help.
    Regards

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear that you have been running into problems with the J-Link OB.
Just tested the firmware update of V4.80 a few times, some minutes ago, and everything works fine so far.

I see that the device is still recognized as USB device but is it also still listed as virtual COM port?

    Best regards
    Alex

  • Hello and sorry for my late response.

After a brief exchange with Nordic Semiconductor I found the solution. After the failed firmware update windows installed the normal JLink driver and not the OB one with CDC support. After I manually installed the correct driver (with OB) the device showed up within the JLink Configurator correctly and i was able to reflash the firmware. Now everything works fine as expected.

    Thank you
