Whilst trying to display a ticking uptime clock remaining in the same position using just '\r' at the end of printf() I noticed the following: RTT Viewer - ignores the CR and shows it as a space, so the time output scrolls left to right then wrap & upwards RTT Client shows it perfectly, clock remaining on same line at the left. Hi Niklas, thanks for the quick response. The need for the SWO is simply to separate the limited interactive STDIN/OUT (via RTT) communications from the STDERR (via ITM) communications. Whilst debugging on a single machine it makes sense to use a single console for all the (limited) communications but when simply monitoring errors on built test devices we tend to use an SWO viewer.
