R7FA2E1A9 AWS region closed off (FSPR = 0) after attempting to chip erase with Access Window ON through JFlash

  • Hi,

    mcu: R7FA2E1A9
    tool: JFlash v8.10i

Precondition: Firmware turns access window (AW) on the entire code flash (0x00000 - 0x20000). Now, AWS register is 0x80008001.

Open JFlash, perform chip erase. Tool gives an error regarding not being able to erase 0x01010010 region. AWS register is 0x00000000. FSPR is 0.

Code flash is usable as long you don't program AWS region.

    JFlash mcu flash regions list:

    • internal option-setting memory (0x01010010)
    • internal program flash (0x00000000)
    • internal data flash (0x40100000)

In Renesas Flash Programmer (v3.15 and higher) specifies:

    • Code Flash 1 (0x00000000)
    • Data Flash 1 (0x40100000)
    • Config Area 1 (0x01010010)

so with RFP the erase chip procedure starts with Code Flash that is effectively locked. Procedure stops with error but not compromising AWS region.

Is it possible to alter the regions list's order in future releases?

As it is right now, (for all the RA mcus maybe ?) it doesn't seem very robust.
I damaged several mcus performing this analysis.

    Thanks,
    FP
