Replied to the thread iMX8M Mini EVK - Flashing QSPI through JTAG.

    Post
Hi, Currently, i.MX8M support is available through NXP only (no support from SEGGER). Same for potential flash programming. They have created some support based on J-Link script files & open flash loader. We plan to add native support some time this…

Replied to the thread J-link Plus red LED blinking.

    Post
Hi, What you are seeing is the overcurrent detection of J-Link. You have enabled the 5V output on pin 19 of J-Link and it detects overcurrent on that pin. This may happen if: 1) There is a short-circuit to GND 2) The target system draws too much…

So far, it sounds correct what you are doing. Maybe some more recent HW would be easier for you to start with, as you will find more stuff on the web for it. E.g. some low-cost ST Nucleo boards. Or some NXP FRDM boards. BR Alex

Hi, Can you please post a quick video that shows the blinking freq.? Can you please also post a photo of the front & back side of the J-Link? BR Alex

Replied to the thread JLinkGDBServer does not use script file.

    Post
Hi, If you pass the device name via the -device option to GDB Server, there is no need to have the "CPU = ARM9" statement in the script. Also, GDBServer expects you to select the device inside GDBServer (e.g. by passing the -device option). The script…

Replied to the thread GDB Server closes connection while watching a string_view.

    Post
Hi, Pretty sure that if you generate a log file: wiki.segger.com/Enable_J-Link_log_file#J-Link_GDB_Server you will see that GDB Server shutdowns gracefully but gets a close request from GDB before. This indicates that GDB Server shutdowns gracefully and…

Replied to the thread [Closed] GDBServer, reset strategy available?.

    Post
Hi, Currently, setting the reset type is not supported for GDB Server. It may be added at some point in 2022 but I cannot promise. In 99% of the cases, the default works fine. For what do you need to set it?

Replied to the thread Flashing MediaTek MT7697D chip firmware, with jlink, swd protocol..

    Post
Hi, If you select the MT7697D as the target MCU in J-Link Commander, you will have support for the ext. QSPI flash @ addr. 0x0800_0000. You can then read it via the "mem" commands and write it via the "loadbin" / "loadfile" commands. We will give it a…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] J-Link and STM32CubeIDE v1.8 (lost functionality).

    Post
Wrong forum. More a question for the STM32CubeIDE forum. Some of the "upper layers" inside CubeIDE seem to complain about some command not being executable while the CPU is running, so they do not even pass it to the lower levels and finally to GDBServer…

You are not getting an FW restoration dialog because your FW is not damaged…. As I wrote before: Unplugging J-Link during the FW update does not damage it. It is more likely that your setup is broken (broken wires etc) or you programmed something into…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] Support of PIC32MK devices.

    Post
Yes, it is planned to support these. You may give it a try by selecting a PIC32MZ derivative with identical flash size. However, this is a shot into the blue with no guarantee. It is planned to support the MK series as well. However, considering the…

As you can see in the screenshot, "Yes" is the default button for the message box. When suppressing the GUI, it will behave as if the default button was pressed. So -NoGui should do what you were planning to do. BR Alex

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] J-Link RTT Viewer.

    Post
Hi, Not sure if this will be added. RTTViewer is (as the name indicates) a viewer, not an editor. I will add it as an internal feature request but cannot promise anything. BR Alex
  • No change of plans so far. This would be an invest-only for SEGGER with no return on value. SEGGER would need to put significant resources into the FW development and would only get even more work with support cases from people using the FW. As there is…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] How to fix a J-Link?.

    Post
Hi, plugging the USB cable during the FW update does not damage the J-Link. All that happens is that the update is incomplete and next time you power it, it will remain in BTL mode. In this mode, when starting J-Link Commander, you will see this:

Replied to the thread [ANSWERED] Cortex-A55 support.

    Post
Hi, Cortex-A55 is ARMv8.2 based which is currently not supported by J-Link. Support for this is planned for Q1 next year. For the application, the difference between ARMv8.2 and 8.1 / 8.0 is not that significant but for the debug side it is. There are…
