Replied to the thread [SOLVED] RTTViewer skips lines in logging when MCU is reset.

    Post
Yes, this can happen when using asynchronous mechanisms. It is a bit like resetting the MCU while there is a DMA transfer in progress or before a UART was able to send out all data via Tx interrupt + buffer. Suggestion: Wait for in your software until…

Replied to the thread J-Link drivers cause "buffer overflow detected" error at Ubuntu 20.04.

    Post
I also checked with another VM (Ubuntu 20.04 + VMWare) I have here but starting GDBServer (same command line as you use) and waiting for the target connection etc. works fine in this VM as well. I also checked with V6.98c V7.20a BR Alex

Replied to the thread J-Link drivers cause "buffer overflow detected" error at Ubuntu 20.04.

    Post
Hi Godsmack et al, I just got back on this and tried the VM you provided etc. First of all: Thanks for the VM. One of the best prepared support cases ever. Download, start, description how to reproduce etc. all just perfect! Quote from Godsmack:…

Replied to the thread CPU TAP NOT FOUND.

    Post
Hello, Unfortunately, for RISC-V (unlike for ARM) there are no standardized JTAG IDCODEs for the JTAG TAPs that would allow identification as a RISC-V DM TAP. Just because the IRLen is 5 for RISC-V TAPs, it does not mean that any TAP with IRLen 5 is a…

Replied to the thread Switch stack call in CCS when using Segger JLink...

    Post
Hello, I do not think that OS aware debugging is available for TI CCS. At least not for the J-Link plugin. The CCS support was initially done by TI and we took over at some point, so I would need to look things up. In case it is possible to have some…

Replied to the thread Maximum baud rate of J-Link VCOM.

    Post
Hello, It depends on the actual model. On most it is done in software, on some there is a dedicated hardware UART available. Therefore, the achievable baudrates (and the max. baudrate) depends on the actual model and HW version. If you post your S/N, I…

Replied to the thread J-Link RTT – Real Time Transfer.

    Post
    a) Real time means that outputting a string usually does not affect the real time of your application, as it is mainly a memcpy() into a buffer, which is blazing fast. It does NOT mean that the data is immediately read out by J-Link. b) We strongly…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] programming VAR-SOM-MX8M-NANO with J-Link base.

    Post
There is no(!) guarantee to get a response on the forum within 24h. If you are entitled to get support, you should contact the regular support. The i.MX8 series is currently not supported by J-Link. There is some preliminary support that has been added…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] nRESET as Input/Output.

    Post
Well, it is marked as an I/O because it is an I/O. J-Link can drive it LOW and J-Link can release it and read the pin level. The pin is open drain. Input makes sense because there may be a reset button on the target HW that may be pushed asynchronously…

  • Hi, We are already aware of a regression in the current V7.00 of the J-Link software, which affects exactly this device (actually it was me internally running into this). We are already working on a fix and plan to have it available by Friday.

That’s why I asked for additional info.... I already suspected that it is the rules file but now we know it. We will fix this in one of the next versions.

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] Need to run Flasher RX on Win10.

    Post
By the way: The correct tool to use for Flasher RX is the "J-Flash" software. The "Flasher V2.x" software is only compatible to the legacy Flasher 5 / Flasher 5 PRO programmers which do not even support RX. J-Flash is part of the software package:

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] J-Link VCOM max baudrate..

    Post
There may be a misunderstanding here. You wrote: 1250000 baud => 1,250,000 baud => 1.25 MBaud The J-Link EDU V10 does not have any hardware UART on the VCOM pins, so it does things in software. This means it has a certain limit of what is doable. Max.…

    Post
You have an TMS470R1VF67 but selected a TMS470R1B512 in the J-Link software. These two devices are not guaranteed to be compatible from the flash programming point of view. We do not give any warranty that what you are doing will work. You are on your…

Replied to the thread [SOLVED] Connecting to Remote J-Link via IP not resolving.

    Post
Hi, You are confusing J-Link name with hostname here. The -ip <Name> command was never meant to resolve hostnames but was meant to resolve J-Link nick names to an actual IP. J-Links can be discovered via a special UDP broadcast packet in LAN (This is…
