  • [SOLVED] I am unable to connect JLINK PLUS Compact to iMX6ULL EVK rev C3

    I am unable to connect the imx6ULL EVK using commander 7.86b. I can move the unit to another board using an iMXRT component and can connect fine so the JLINK and cable seem to be OK. Not sure where to go from here.

    Sample Session I am getting:

    Type "connect" to establish a target connection, '?' for help
    J-Link>connect
    Please specify device / core. <Default>: MCIMX6Y2
    Type '?' for selection dialog
    Device>
    Please specify target interface:
    J) JTAG (Default)
    S) SWD
    T) cJTAG
    TIF>
    Device position in JTAG chain (IRPre,DRPre) <Default>: -1,-1 => Auto-detect
    JTAGConf>
    Specify target interface speed [kHz]. <Default>: 4000 kHz
    Speed>100
    Device "MCIMX6Y2" selected.

    Connecting to target via JTAG
    ConfigTargetSettings() start
    J-Link script: Setting up AP map
    ConfigTargetSettings() end - Took 424us
    Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    Failed to identify target. Resetting via Reset pin and trying again.
    ConfigTargetSettings() start
    J-Link script: Setting up AP map
    ConfigTargetSettings() end - Took 858us
    Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    Cannot connect to target.

  • There are multiple possible error sources:
    • Bad connector on board (even though the cable itself is fine)
    • CPU in some low power mode that disables all debug clocks and make the device to become unresponsive over JTAG
    • Device secured and debug interface has been disabled (not sure if there is a way to lift security on i.MX6 devices)
