  • [CLOSED] (re)calibrate J-Link

    Hello,

I just calibrated the current measurement of my J-Link Ultra+ while having nothing connected

    Source Code

    1. J-Link>Calibrate
    2. Please disconnect emulator from target.
    3. Press any key to start the calibration...
    4. Calibrating...Emulator already calibrated.
    5. No re-calibration necessary.
    6. Min=0.0mA Max=0.0mA Avg=0.0mA Offs=0.0mA...DONE
    So far so good.
Then same with just a 5V to 3.3V LDO connected, so that its quiescent current will not be part of the measurement.

    Source Code

    1. J-Link>Calibrate
    2. Please disconnect emulator from target.
    3. Press any key to start the calibration...
    4. Calibrating...Emulator already calibrated.
    5. Emulator calibrated.
    6. Min=0.0mA Max=70.0mA Avg=14.0mA Offs=14.0mA...DONE
Numbers are a bit high?, but ok ... after that the current in Ozone was always 0mA (in reality it should be around 1..13mA).
With a bit more load, so I get 20..33mA,I can see the measurements again but as 4..17mA

so I calibrated again with nothing connected:

    Source Code

    1. J-Link>Calibrate
    2. Please disconnect emulator from target.
    3. Press any key to start the calibration...
    4. Calibrating...Emulator already calibrated.
    5. No re-calibration necessary.
    6. Min=0.0mA Max=0.0mA Avg=0.0mA Offs=14.0mA...DONE
    no noticeable change. So again:

    Source Code

    1. J-Link>Calibrate
    2. Please disconnect emulator from target.
    3. Press any key to start the calibration...
    4. Calibrating...Emulator already calibrated.
    5. Emulator calibrated.
    6. Min=-1.0mA Max=-1.0mA Avg=-1.0mA Offs=-1.0mA...DONE
but that does not change anything and further attempts give the same output.

So I still have an offset of something like -14mA that does not go away and Ozone/J-Link won't display negative numbers so I won't get any useable output at all.

    What to do?

  • Update:
The following steps solved the issue:
    - In J-Link Commander, connect to the J-Link and issue the following command
    ResetConf
    - Powercycle the J-Link
    - In J-Link Commander, connect to the J-Link and issue the following command
    Calibrate
