  • [SOLVED] Jlink SDK features and licensing

    Hi,
some questions on the Jlink SDK - I understand that this is not a support forum or a "commercial" forum, I wonder if someone can provide answers to this topic.
    - Company wide license: one license is fine for all the members of a company? Is it server-based? can it be server based? Can it be installed on a j-link pro? Can I install or copy to multiple workstations?
    1. "can it be" is intended both as legally feasible AND technically feasible - not interested in hacks to bypass license agreement or similars

    - SDK features (focusing on python implementation here):
    1. is it possible to set conditional breakpoints? or is it possible to emulate conditional breakpoints?
    2. is it possible to install callback when a breakpoint is hit?
    3. is it possible to install and identify breakpoints that were hit (e.g something like asm("bkpt 1"))?
    4. a breakpoint can be hit many times inside a for loop. Do we risk to lose events or it is precise enough?
    5. is it possible to have wait points, like waiting for tot ms for the cpu to hit a breakpoint and then proceed with the software execution?

    Thanks and k.r.

  • Hello Catosh,

    Thank you for your inquiry.
You only need one license for your whole company.
There is no license that needs to be installed. You simply get the right and license to use the J-Link SDK in your company to develop your own tools. You can use it on as many workstations as you want and as with many J-Links as you want.

It is simply a way for us to track who is in valid support period or not for the SDK.

    1: Yes
    2: Yes
    3: Yes
4: Not sure what you mean here. But Breakpoints are always precise and halt exactly on the instruction the BP is set at.
    5: Yes

If you have further questions about licensing and purchase we recommend to contact your sales at sales@segger.com

For further support questions a SDK license would be required.

    Best regards,
    Nino
