  • [SOLVED] Plugging in J-Link mini backwards

The connector for J-Link mini is not keyed, meaning it can be plugged in using two different orientations. Will this damage the microcontroller or the debugger itself? Does anyone have an elegant solution for making it impossible to plug it in the wrong orientation?
  • Hello,

    Thank you for your inquiry.
On the J-Link EDU Mini you will find a 1 printed next to the header. This is the side Pin1 is on. On your cable you will find a red marking. This is also the side where Pin 1 is located. If you match them you should not have any orientation issues.

The debugger should not be damaged by flipping the debug interface. The target device might depending on the board design.

    Best regards,
    Nino
