  • [SOLVED] i.MX8M support

    Hi,

Does J-Link (or J-Trace) support NXP i.MX8M chips yet? I haven't found it on the "supported devices" list, only here: wiki.segger.com/IMX_Series_Devices. However, Cortex-A53 target is supposed to be supported in the latest release.

I have tried by selecting "Cortex-A53" and the result is as follows:

    Source Code

    1. J-Link>connect
    2. Please specify device / core. <Default>: MK20DX256XXX7
    3. Type '?' for selection dialog
    4. Device>Cortex-A53
    5. Please specify target interface:
    6. J) JTAG (Default)
    7. S) SWD
    8. T) cJTAG
    9. TIF>J
    10. Device position in JTAG chain (IRPre,DRPre) <Default>: -1,-1 => Auto-detect
    11. JTAGConf>
    12. Specify target interface speed [kHz]. <Default>: 4000 kHz
    13. Speed>100
    14. Device "CORTEX-A53" selected.
    15. Connecting to target via JTAG
    16. TotalIRLen = 4, IRPrint = 0x01
    17. JTAG chain detection found 1 devices:
    18. #0 Id: 0x5BA00477, IRLen: 04, CoreSight JTAG-DP
    19. Failed to power up DAP
    20. Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    21. Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    22. Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    23. Could not measure total IR len. TDO is constant high.
    24. Cannot connect to target.

Any ideas how to make it attach to the target? :)

    I'm using software version V6.42b

    Thanks,
    Jakub
  • Hello Jakub,

    Thank you for your inquiry.
General A53 support is already available. However most of currently available A53 target devices require target specific special handling that is not part of the standard A53 definition.
This special handling has not been added for the imx8 series yet. However we are currently working on it and official support is planned to be available by the end of Q1 2019.
