    Hi,

    opening *.emProject files causes every time a crash of Embedded Studio (V4.12) under Windows 10.
    Is the direct opening of project files not intended?

    Thank you for your inquiry.
    Generally opening emproject files by double clicking is supported.
    Did you manually edit the .emproject file in a text editor?
    Are you using a device name that might be unknown the J-Link software?
    Could you try the following?
    - Rename the folder where the emproject file is located so ES does not crash on automatic loading of last open project
    - open ES
    - File->Open Studio Folder->Studio User Folder
    - make a backup of the settings.xml file and delete the original file
    - go two folders up to the Local/SEGGER folder, do the same with the settings.xml if it is there as well

    the .emproject file is not edited in any way, it is in the condition as generated by SES.
    The device is an STM32F030F4P6.

    I made the suggested process and now is the crash gone. Probably the settings.xml was corrupted?

    Thank you for your help!

    EDIT: when I open the same project file at the second attempt (SES is closed meanwhile), the crash is back.

    Most likely, possible causes are manual edit (in your this can be excluded), unexpected termination of ES, interfering of some aggressive software, e.g. anti virus software or similar.
    If such a manipulated emproject file gets opened by ES depending on the severity of the change ES can crash.
    Could you provide the emproject file in question so we can try to reproduce the issue?
