  • .icf file, is it specific to IAR or general JLink?

    Hi,

I'm using IAR with JLink. In the IDE, there is a file called .icf file. I'm not sure if this is the file created by IAR itself or JLink requires this file?

A further question, when downloading with JLink in IAR, who is responsible to decide the destination address, IAR or JLink? if it's JLink, how?

The icf file is the linker configuration file which is needed by the IAR linker, when linking the application.
For more information about this, please refer to IAR C/C++ Development Guide (the pdf comes with IAR EWARM), chapter "Using the build tools" --> "Linking using ILINK" --> "Placing code and data—the linker configuration file"

    This answers also question 2:
Of course it is debugger's responsibility to download the code to the correct address.

    Best regards
