  • [ABANDONED] Bricked JLink?

    Hello,

I just installed the latest version of JLink software, I started JlinkExe and the utility wrote that it must update the hardware. Here the messages in the console (I'm on MacOS):

I tried everything, reset, etc. with no success. The LED on the JLink is steady green, no matter what I do. Any chance to recover?

  • Hi,

good to hear that you are up and running again.

Which version of macOS are you using?
Was a hypervisor (e.g. Parallels, VMWare, VirtualBox) running at the time of the update?

After a firmware update, J-Link re-enumerates as a USB device.
If a guest OS grabs the "new USB device", the J-Link Commander session in macOS will get confused.

  • Hi Niklas,

Thanks you for the quick answer.

No, I don't use any virtualisation software. However, at the time the JLink has been upgraded (unexpectedly, at least for me), there were many USB devices attached to the bus, mostly USB to serial converters from Silicon Labs and FTDI, plus two 4-ports USB hubs. Maybe this was too much for the Mac...

I am running the latest version of MacOS Sierra (10.12.6 (16G29)) on a MacBook Pro late 2011 (quite old meanwhile).

I updated the SEGGER software in the hope I can unlock the Silabs EFR32MGxxx chip, but no luck (I posted separately this issue).

    Best regards,

    Lix
