  • [SOLVED] JLINK and LPCXpresso

    Hello,

On the page segger.com/nxp-lpcxpresso.html it is described how to setup jlink with lpcxpresso.
    I think i'm stucked.

If i try to follow the manual, I'm at the step
Failed with handshake error which seems to be a https right management problem. Using UnlimitedJCEPolicy I only see the following error:
    No repository found at gnuarmeclipse.sourceforge.net/updates.

Is there any easy way to get jlink working with lpcxpresso?

    Best regards
    Wolfgang
  • Hi Wolfgang,

Please note that the GNU ARM Eclipse Plugin is not maintained by SEGGER.

The most straight-forward workaround for this issue seems to me to download the required files and install the plugin from a local copy.
An How-To on this can be found here: gnuarmeclipse.github.io/plugin…ad/#the-local-archive-way

By the way, NXP MCUXpresso is announced to be released this month and will feature native J-Link support.
More Information on MCUXpresso can be found here: nxp.com/products/software-and-…onment-ide:MCUXpresso-IDE

  • Hi Niklas,

thank you, at embedded world the guy from NXP mentioned MCUXpresso that is build on LPCXpress, but not the native J-Link possibility. We now used as workaround for a hopefully short period of time the Segger J-Link GDB-Server.

(we try out the segger software on a LPCLink2 if it works we plan to buy some Segger boxes).

    Best regards

  • Hi Wolfgang,

Well, I am sure he just forgot to mention it, there a lot of things they worked on with MCUXpresso :)
In case you would like to have a confirmation by NXP, Erich Styger mentions it in his recap blog post about the embedded world 2017:
The highlight is the new MCUXpresso IDE which combines the Kinetis Design Studio and LPCXpresso IDE. As the name indicates, it is based on the LPCXpresso IDE, or as Andy worded it: “LPCXpresso on steroids” :-). It is free, code size unlimited, based on Eclipse Neon with latest GNU ARM Tools plus RedLib optimized library, works with P&E, Segger and NXP (CMSIS-DAP, OpenSDA, LPC-Link, LPC-Link2) debug probes with automatic probe discovery and configuration.

..., which can be found here: mcuoneclipse.com/2017/03/19/em…pc800-dip-and-alan-hawse/

    Best regards,
    Niklas
