  • [SOLVED] Flasher Arm V4.00 formware downdating

    Hi

We have several Flasher Arms programmers which we want to downdate the firmware, since we enconter some issue with the last firmware comes with v6.12g.
After experimenting with different verison of Jlink (v6.10m, v6.00g and v5.02b) using command EXEC INVALIDATEFW now the Flahser cannot be updated.

When connecting to a device or downloading a program to the flasher in JFLASH it prompts there is a newer firmware available. When Selecting "YES" button everything seems to be ok but the Log-window stats error, see attached picture. We have also tried updating firmware in J-configurator but it also fails. It seems we have completely Terminated our Flasher arms.

Does someone has a clue how to fix this issue or is it just put those flasher arms in a trash bin? Is it possible to perform a factory reset on flasher arm??

    Regards
    Robin

  • Hi Robin,

So you had a working version (which one?) and after updating to V6.12 you ran into issues.
How did you determine that the firmware and not the software was the cause of the issue?
Did you report this issues to SEGGER?

    (v6.10m, v6.00g and v5.02b)

Why was there a need to try different firmwares instead of just downdating to the firmware version which was supposedly working before updating to 6.12?

    Best regards,
    Niklas

  • Hi Niklas

Our wokring version is v5.02b, firmware unknown (we didn't check that before we updated the firmware). Once we installed v6.12g and started J-Flash and updated the firmware things stop working. The problem might be located in SW as well but with the newer firmware it just wont work along with JFlash v5.02b.

I have sent an email to Segger yesterday but no response yet.

Initially, the flasher amrs were started with v6.00g so we wanted to restore the firmware to that version/status. The programmer didn't work as intended (it didn't set Optionbyte register properly) using v6.00g then we decided to go back to the working version 5.02b. After downdating from v6.00g to v5.02b the flasher cannot be updated again.

(We have also testet v6.10m, I dont remember exactly test sequency)

Is there anyway to repair our flasher arms?

    Regards
    Robin
  • Hi Robin,

    please follow this steps:
    • Download the firmware from here: download.segger.com/Niklas/FIRMWARE.BIN
    • Boot the Flasher in MSD Mode
    • Copy FIRMWARE.BIN to the Flasher
    • Disconnect the Flasher
    • Connect the Flasher via USB
    • Both Leds will light up
    • Wait until the red LED turns off
    • Disconnect the Flasher
    • Connect the Flasher via USB
    • Flasher should be working again.

    Best regards,
    Niklas

  • Hi Robin,

I assume, the Flasher is working again?

I cannot provide you with old firmware files. You still may try downdating at your own risk (as the manual states),
but I would like to know what the problem is:
What does not work? Standalone-mode programming? Programming via J-Flash?
Which target device do you use?
Can you send us your J-Flash project?

  • Hi Robin,

    thanks for the feedback.
To sum it up: everything is working on your side, correct?

Or is there still an issue with the SEGGER software you like to resolve?

    Best regards,
    Niklas
