  • [SOLVED] j-link edu failed to connect

    hello
    i have a j-link edu and i installed the jflash v6.00g.
i am trying to connect to a silicon lab EFMTG210F32 but when i try to connect i recieve the "failed to connect, could not establish a connection to target" as shown in the pic attached.
i was wondering why that is, and what am i missing.
    thank you.
  • Hi,

I am sorry, but I cannot find any attached picture.
Could you please give J-Link Commander a try?
J-Link commander is part of the J-Link software package, which is available free of charge here .

    • Start J-Link Commander (jlink.exe)
    • Type "connect" in order to start a debug session
    • Type in the target device name if asked (Or type "?" for a target selection Dialog)
    • Choose the correct target interface (JTAG/SWD/etc..)
    • Use a valid speed (Default: 4000kHz, try 100-500 if default does not work)
    • [JTAG only]JTAG conf can be default(most of the times)
    • You should now be successfully connected.
If anything fails, could you post a screenshot of the complete session?

    Best regards,
    Niklas

  • still cant connect

    hi
i tried the jlink commander with all the suggested speeds (100-500 and the default 4000) but it still cant connect
    attached the screenshots
    what could be the problem?
is there a licensing issue or something?
or it should work out of the box?
    thank you

  • Your VtRef = 0.0V
This means, your target is not powered or you have not connected the VTref pin of the programmer. (Pin1 if the 20pin socket)
If you power your target with the EDU over the pin 19 (+5V) you must power on the supply. For this start the jlink-commander and type:
    power on perm
This switch the power-supply of Pin 19 to on.
    Then try connect again.
  • pcode returned with error code 1

    hello
my battery was probably dead so now i have a DC external power supply.
it is supplying 3.3V -> so i didnt do "power on perm" but rather "power off perm"
and i do see now VTref=2.964v
    1) why do i see in the VTref 2.964V and not 3.3V ?
    2) when i try to connect i get "error: resetTarget(): pcode returned with error code 1"
as shown in the attached pic

    thank you
