  • [SOLVED] Unable to upgrade firmware on JLink Base

I have just purchased a JLink Base, and have installed the latest Jlink s/w on my PC (Windows 10).

When I connect the device & run JLink (5.12i), I get a message asking me to upgrade the JLink f/w.

When I try to do this, it fails.

It successfully detaches (after 103ms), then waits for it to attach, but this times out (after 45000 ms).

    The errors reported are :

ERROR: Communications Timeout. Emulator did not re-enumerate
    ERROR: Firmware upgrade failed

    Any suggestions ?( ?

    New f.w is v10 compiled april 28 2016 11:49:37
    Current f/w is v10 compiled Oct 9 2015 20:36:39

  • Hi John,

after the failed firmware upgrade, once you disconnected and reconnected the J-Link from you PC, which firmware does J-Link Commander(jlink.exe) report?

Could you try to upgrade the firmware on a different PC?
I just gave it a try and upgrading a J-Link V10 worked without any issues.

    Best regards,
    Niklas
