  • J-Link EDU device not recognized by PC

    Hello everyone,

Recently, my J-Link EDU probe (Ver 8.0) is not recognized by PC and the green LED doesn't lit when connected to USB port.

In the Device Manager window, under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" node, the J-Link EDU is listed as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). In the property window, the device status is described as:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

I already uninstalled and re-installed the latest J-Link driver (i.e. V498a), but the device is still not recognized. The device was running perfectly the last time I used it. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

Did you give it a try using another PC?
Can you please give it another try using the installer of the J-Link software package, deselect the "Install USB Driver for J-Link" and select "Install USB Driver for J-Link with Virtual COM Port" during installation process. If the J-Link still does not work, this sounds like it is broken. In this case we would recommend the SEGGER Trade-In Program (segger.com/trade-in-program.html) as the J-Link is out of warranty.
