I have used GHS Multi IDE for years with JLink 3.62 and SAM-ICE connected to ARM926EJ-S. When installing this setup on a newer laptop recently I made the fatal mistake of answering YES when prompted to update the SAM-ICE firmware. Thereafter I couldn't get anything to work for days. Finally have a work-around: by editing the JLinkRDI.ini file to turn OFF UseAutoSpeed and leaving Speed set to 5, I can download to the processor at 5 kHz. Then, while it's downloading, I can use JLinkRDIConfig.exe to set the Target Interface speed to AUTO, manually, and it jumps up to 8 mHz and acts like it used to for the last two years. This is painful -- have to do it every time the debugger is restarted. I've upgraded JLink to 4.62a and even tried 4.63a but have found no way back to "happy land". I know I violated the cardinal rule of "never upgrade anything that's working" but is there any way back? I have considered using exec invalidateFW to try and downgrade back to what I had but honestly I don't know what version was in there. We have two of these ICE units but the other one is V6.0 HW and Jul 30 2008 firmware. My HW is V8.0. The other developer installed his GHS setup with JLink RDI on his laptop with no problems at all. But he was smart .. he didn't upgrade the SAM-ICE firmware.
