  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. strlen will not work in the watch window as this is no static variable information. You can use sizeof(variable) though. I also tested strlen in source code and it was working as expected. Did you include string.h? Best regards, Nino

  • Hello Christian, Thank you for your inquiry. Could you elaborate what you are exactly trying to do? What do you mean by "generate the compilation database for the CLANG"? If you mean that you want to use clang instead of gcc in your projects you can set this in project options under the compiler setting. Project options->Code->Compiler->Compiler->select clang Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. emBuild is solely a build tool so the requested features are not available. But you can of course call third party tools that use the output of emBuild. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, If you are simply looking for a way to start an external tool via a button you could look at Embedded Studios external tools interface. studio.segger.com/ide_external_tools_file_format.htm To edit the file go to File->Open Studio Folder->External Tools Configuration However this would be a lot of work for a simple task as flashing a target. If you are looking to just Flash an image simply use J-Flash or J-Flash Lite from the J-Link software package as a separate tool. If you are looking t…

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The roadmap has changed and other features were prioritized. Currently we can't tell exactly when this will be available in Ozone. Probably some time next year. To stay up to date with our releases you can subscribe here: segger.com/notification/subscribe.php?prodid=178,7 Once it is announced there you can use it for 64 bit target devices. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Oh OK then this is a misunderstanding. The license pop-up is just a reminder that the base version of Embedded Studio may be only used for non commercial or educational purposes. In this free version this pop-up can not be removed. This can only be removed with a commercial license. The Nordic license that is offered there is available for free due to an agreement with SEGGER and Nordic so Nordic users can use the IDE for free for commercial purposes as well. This however only works for N…

  • Hello Daniel, Thank you for your inquiry. You can find troubleshooting steps for the Nordic license here: wiki.segger.com/Get_a_License_…dic_Semiconductor_Devices It appears that you are trying to open the default Hello project after a fresh ES install. This project does not use a Nordic target device which is why the installed license has no effect. For further information see the Wiki article. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. In project options under User Build Steps you can find multiple hook points where you can execute external tools etc. that use command line options. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Pylink is not supported or maintained by SEGGER so unfortunately we can't provide information on this matter. So we recommend contacting Pylink support in this regard. We will leave this open for a bit should someone from the community have an answer. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The iMXRT1011 will be supported with the next J-Link software update. You can subscribe to our notification list to stay up to date: segger.com/notification/subscribe.php?prodid=7 Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The memory map in that J-Flash program is simply completely wring, this is why it does not work correctly. Attached you can find how it should look like. It seems that you are using a J-Link software that is quite old. We recommend using the latest one and create a new J-Flash project using the project wizard. Then everything should work as expected. One more thing I noticed. The project you set up here selects the "allow opt. bytes" versions of the F103. Do yo…

  • Hello, Correct as the J-Trace PRO has not application reference but only gets information from that target which instruction has been executed but not in what context. When you get your hands on a J-Trace PRO the following article will explain how you can use trace without having source or symbol information of the application: wiki.segger.com/Getting_unknow…sses_in_instruction_trace Best regards, Nino

  • Hello Ewout, Thank you for your inquiry. If you need to know what the application context is and want to use the streaming trace e.g. timeline feature we recommend having an elf file with all debug information and if possible without any optimization. segger.com/products/developmen…echnology/trace-features/ This features might also work with optimization levels maximum if the application is not to complex and Ozone can deconstruct the context from other information. However in release builds deb…

  • Hello, The long term goal is to merge both editors into one codebase so they have both the same features. But as both products were created independently and with different use cases in mind it could take some time to merge this. Best regards, Nino

  • Does Ozone support CMSIS-DAP?

    SEGGER - Nino - - General

    Post

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. CMSIS-DAP is currently only supported in Embedded Studio. In future it is planned to roll out a licensing model to use CMSIS-DAP with other J-Link software e.g. Ozone as well. But currently there is no fixed time frame and pricing is also not yet available. Best regards, Nino

  • Hello, Great to hear that you are up and running again. Quote from Sergey22: “I did not try clang however, do you have any use cases for comparing ouptu size from clang and ARMCC? ” Clang with default optimization settings is actually a bit worse than gcc in code size as the embedded support for clang was added more of an afterthought. But Embedded Studio is not just another gcc toolchain. With our own standard library that is highly optimized for embedded targets and our SEGGER Linker together …

  • Hi Pascal, Thank you for your inquiry. If you don't want to use the default libraries of Embedded Studio you can disable it in project settings under Library->Include Standard Libraries->No. Could you elaborate why you would want to do that though? ES is not using the standard newlib but a highly optimized version tailored for embedded targets. So for most cases it is not wise to use a third party library as this will slow down your code and increase code size. Here is a comparison with other li…
