  • [SOLVED] J-Link V9: Debug break virtual com port

    Hi,

Using the 6.14c software, I noticed that when I click debug in the IAR, the virtual com port already opened not work anymore. In order to let it work, I must choose another baudrate.

    Step to produce the issue:
    1. Make a loopback connection on VCP and connect SWD to the MCU
    2. Use Tera Term to test the vcp port, it should work.
    3. Click download and debug in IAR
    4. VCP port not work anymore even if I close and relaunch Tera Term
    5. Change the baud rate in Tera Term and VCP works until next debug session.
  • I have the same problem, but I use J-Link Ultra+, Atmel Studio and no loopback for checking.
    When
I connect J-Link Ultra+ to device (XULT board, for example) everything
is working well. But when the first debug session starts, VCOM port
stops working for transmission to device.
I have looked into the line
with my oscilloscope, and noticed that when the debug session starts -
the J-Link TX line (pin 5) goes down and never comes up.
I've checked this issue on different SDK versions (6.14c and before).
  • Hi,

we were able to reproduce this issue yesterday.
In order to fix this issue "the right way", we need to adjust the J-Link software as wells as the J-Link firmware and test the changes carefully.
Therefore, a fix will be available in the next few days, but will only be available in the beta version of the J-Link software & documentation pack (beta).

    Best regards,
    Niklas
