  • J-Link stops working after Linux starts

    Hi,
I have a i.MX53QSB. I am using JLINK's EDU version to connect to it. I am using K-Link commander (on Windows) to connect to it. The problem i have is that the commander work while the board is in uboot and for the first instructions in Linux (i.e., I can halt, go, and set breakpoints). As soon as Linux boots, none of these commands work except the "reset" command that restarts the board.

PS: I am using the Linux version distributed by freescale and the default i.MX5 Linux configs.

  • Hi Ahmed,

Not sure what the software does as soon as Linux is booted.
Maybe some low-power modes are activated which switch off some debugging clocks, so J-Link is no longer able to talk to the device?

What happens if you start J-Link Commander AFTER Linux is already booted?
Is it still able to detect the device properly?

    Best regards
    Alex
