JLink unable to halt and erase SAMD51 and SAME54 micros

Hello, Thank you for providing the test files. With them the issue was reproducible. However it seems that this issue is not related to the application running on the target but to some weird power/boot state that the SAMD51 and SAME51-54 series can get into. To reproduce the issue on a XPlained Pro eval board simply press the Reset button once. Then if you power the board through "DEBUG USB" you wont be able to halt the target with J-Link or do anything useful with it. A way that we found to re...

oZone + IAR: ElfDwarf problems and unexpected break

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding 1: Such an issue is not known to us. Could you provide the .elf file for reproduction? Regarding 2: This is most likely related to Ozone starting the application from where it has been downloaded to and not from 0x0 where the softdevice is located at. How to use a softdevice or bootloader with Ozone correctly is described in the latest Ozone user manual in section "6.3 Incorporating a Bootloader into Ozone’s Startup Sequence". Best regards, Nino

J-Link scripts for Cypress FCR4 no longer work

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. In J-Link software version V6.32b a Scriptfile timeout has been added to make sure that Scriptfiles can't get stuck in endless loops as some get executed on J-Link hardware. Could you try the FCR4 script with V6.32a and see if the behaviour changes? Quoted are they going to stay? The __constant defines are going to stay as the standard "global" defines. We will see if we can improve documentation in that regard. Quoted i guess that is obsolete? Yes the "old" no...

JLink unable to halt and erase SAMD51 and SAME54 micros

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Quoted Is there a fix somewhere from SEGGER? No, because this issue has never been reproducible for us. What will change within the next 1-2 weeks is that unsecuring locked ATSAM devices will also work on SAME54/SAMD51 as the sequence from Atmel Studio was not correct. So we implemented it in our J-Link software directly and it gets handled automatically like for SAMD20 series etc. Attached is a successful connect sequence with a SAMD51 XPlained Pro board. Ever...

Debugging custom board at 1.8V

Hello Nick, Quoted Is it also available without the legs (just the pins and locating pins)? Currently not. We will discuss internally if it might be added to our portfolio as we already had a couple of interested customers. For now most of our Needle-Adapter customers simply removed the "legs" themselves by breaking them off. Best regards, Nino

BlueNRG2: Mass erase triggered without asking first

Hello Maxime, On Linux and Mac there are no GUI popups so default behaviour is that a unlock will get triggered if a locked/secured device is detected. This behaviour is expected by over 99% of our customers as they would like to connect to the chip which is not possible when it is in locked state... Otherwise every debug session with a locked device under Linux and Mac would fail. We will put the request to make this optional on our wish list for future internal discussions. Quoted The target v...

SAMICE only supports a single uncached region, defined as a 'start end'

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Such an issue is not known to us. The error message does not come from J-Link software and it is most likely output by Atmel Studio. As neither SAMICE nor Atmel Studio are supported through SEGGER we recommend contacting Microchip in that regard. Best regards, Nino

[Ozone] Bug: re-loading elf file looses attached commands to a bkpt

Hello, The information is lost because the whole output and source files might have changed in the meantime which could lead to breakpoints set to unwanted sections. To avoid this BPs are cleared after a rebuild. There are currently no plans to change this behaviour as it is expected by the majority of our customers. Best regards, Nino

BlueNRG2: Mass erase triggered without asking first

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The target voltage is suspiciously low. Make sure that at that voltage the debug interface and other debug related modules are active. For all devices that J-Link detects as locked the user will get a prompt informing the user which needs to be confirmed first before a mass erase is triggered. However the user can click the message away permanently. How to recover it is described here: https://wiki.segger.com/Secured_ST_device_detected Best regards, Nino

Debugging custom board at 1.8V

Hello Nick, Thank you for your inquiry. J-Link debug probes generally support voltage ranges from 1.2 V - 5 V. So 1.8 V debugging is supported by J-Link. However if it is supported by the target device should be described in the nRF52 user manual. For additional information we suggest contacting Nordic support. An overview of all our debug probes can be found here: https://www.segger.com/products/debug-pr…model-overview/ Quoted Is this the most straightforward solution? Generally we do not recom...

J-Link: Bad JTAG communication: Write to IR ... error

Hello, I used the script int \Devices\NXP\iMX7D in J-Link software package folder. Quoted Does it matter here if you use proper MCIMX... M4 device name, or Cortex-M4, if you using the connect script? It does especially for iMX device series. We generally recommend selecting the exact device name so all J-Link features get enabled Selecting generic Coretypes might work for rudimentary debug support but anything more complex and it might not work properly. Best regards, Nino

J-Link with ASIC (R5, M0+): Unable to Connect to Target

Hello Raj, Thank you for your inquiry. Generally R5 cores are supported and should at least return some information when J-Link tries to connect to them. According to your log J-Link does not get any response whatsoever. Could you check if your wiring is compatible to the one described in the J-Link user manual? Depending on your ASIC implementation additional init steps are needed. For this J-Link Script files can be user. More information about them can be found in the J-Link user manual as we...
